How To Make Students Stop On Your Ads

Putting ads out is a great way to get your institution noticed! More and more social media platforms are inserting paid ads seamlessly into users’ feeds, and because of this, visibility is becoming less of a problem.

However, just because a student sees your advertisement as they’re scrolling through memes or updates on the latest celebrity drama doesn’t mean they will stop on your advertisements. You have to grab the student’s attention fairly quickly, as all it takes is a quick swipe, and they’re onto the next post.

To help you create social media ads that will catch the eye, here are Noetic Marketer’s 3 Bs of social media marketing!

When creating ads, focus on the following:

  • Big: This doesn’t mean your post needs to be the longest on their feed (quite the opposite, actually, as we’ll talk about in our second point). Your value proposition should be in the biggest, boldest font on the page! A prospective student should immediately understand what your ad is telling them, so highlight your biggest message by putting it in the most visible lettering.

  • Brief: The longer the ad, the easier it is to lose a student’s attention. Many students associate reading with work, so their interest level will drop quickly if your ad feels like an essay. Keep your ad text and accompanying captions to a few sentences, especially on platforms like Instagram or Facebook. For TikTok or Reels, keep the caption even shorter - often, people do not look at the captions on these platforms.

  • Bright: Students will keep scrolling if your content blends in with the rest of their feeds. You must give them a reason to stop and look at your offer. So, make your ads pop! Use bright colours to make your ads noticeable and convince users to take a second look.
